Job Description
The Quantitative Investment Strategies team is a Quantitative Portfolio Management Desk. The Desk manages one of the largest hedge fund families in the world using sophisticated quantitative models. It trades across assets classes on a global basis using a wide variety of instruments (equities, cash securities, futures, forwards, options, interest rate swaps and other OTC derivatives).
The business is highly reliant upon technology across all of its activities. The systems cover research, portfolio construction, electronic trading and workflow. Technology employs a variety of architectures and technologies and works directly with portfolio managers, researchers and traders. We have a clear need for people that can work across the suite of applications, while introducing best practices and working with the business directly.
The ideal candidate will have financial services experience supporting asset management systems. Would need to have excellent technical skills, extremely good communication skills, high energy & motivation and a keen interest in working in a fast moving, demanding and stimulating business.
The rewards of this role include working with a first class team, learning the quantitative technology platform, working very closely with Quant's and Strats to build the next state-of-the-art portfolio construction and trading platform, and working with the investment management process from construction to execution.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Play a day-to-day systems support and testing role of new and existing systems
Interact extensively with both the Portfolio Management team on research & portfolio construction initiatives and with Traders on the Trading Desk
Ensure systems are in working order for the portfolio investment workflow
Troubleshoot all production related issues efficiently and in a timely manner
Implement suitable solutions for a wide range of business problems
Highly motivated - ability to take initiative and ownership
Become intimately familiar with the working practices of the users, and collude closely with the application development team to find long term solutions
Work as part of the Technology team, reporting to the teams manager
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 2 years of experience in a technology role
Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
Exposure & understanding of Java, C++ and database (ideally Sybase)
Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot
Strong math and analytical skills
Cooperate within a team and work in a rigorous and stimulating environment
Exposure to and appreciation of Futures, Forwards, IR Swaps, Options or CDS contracts
Preferred Qualifications
An interest and desire to learn about portfolio management and financial market
Financial industry experience is preferred
Knowledge of matlab is a plus, but not required
