SUMMARY:
The Hedge Fund’s Client Services technology group is responsible for the delivery and support of all applications involved in client facing processes. These technologies include CRM systems, reporting solutions, web applications and other line-of-business applications. We are looking to hire a self motivated, self managing DBA to take ownership of the design, monitoring and maintenance of our production database environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance, profiling and tuning of the production databases that back our critical business applications, and in supporting our environments and engineering systems (build and continuous integration systems). They will be responsible for maintaining the availability, integrity and security of our business critical data.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Managing technical database - production server monitoring, profiling and tuning of production database
• Managing machine lifecycle and capacity planning for the department's database and other key production servers leveraging tools and leading practice guidelines
• Reviewing current database design and drive efforts to improvement of performance and operational stability
• Maintaining database servers - apply critical upgrades and patches as needed and ensure that database servers are similarly configured in all environments
• Providing operational database support for end users - deal with production data quality issues reported by users
• Driving business continuity and disaster recovery planning for the departments' critical database servers
• Managing the lifecycle of data (archive old data and manage data volume for the department)
• Participating in mapping the logical to physical data model for new projects and participate in data access design decisions
• Handling security administration for the department; participate in security role definition process and handle permissions related administrative tasks
• Serving as a gatekeeper for production releases - review proposed database schema and T-SQL and ensure that the deployment of new database applications runs smoothly and does not interrupt critical business processes
• Managing and support some non-database servers (web servers, app servers, SharePoint server)
• Managing limited release responsibilities for the department (build and branch management, maintenance of continuous integration processes)

REQUIREMENTS:
• 3-5 years of Database Administration experience
• Expert SQL Server 2005 skills - configuration, rich understanding of RDBMS behavior, SQL queries, T-SQL scripts, profiling and tuning, monitoring, administration and management
• Expert database design skills - schema definition, and patterns of utilization in modern applications
• Intermediate Windows Server 2003/2008 system administration skills (including IIS configuration)

The Network Engineering team is responsible for the design, implementation planning and management of the firm’s global communications network.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The role of Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for engaging with application developers and other technology infrastructure teams to understand requirements and transform them into a comprehensive network design that balances performance, scalability, security and resiliency. The candidate will also demonstrate strong product management skills and business acumen by efficiently managing cost/benefit analysis during the design process. The candidate must also collaborate with the operation and implementation teams to transform designs into executable solutions. Additional responsibilities will include collaborating on globally consistent network design standards, participating in network reengineering initiatives and piloting/evaluating vendor products.

REQUIREMENTS:

SUMMARY:
The Systems Security group is seeking a Senior Systems Security engineer. The primary responsibilities include securing the firm’s UNIX environment, maintaining the integrity of our systems, conduct security audits, and managing security logs. Our group is also responsible for managing core infrastructures such as email and DNS.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position requires a high degree of technical proficiency and familiarity with software, system and network security issues in a large UNIX environment which consists of servers running Solaris, AIX, Linux, and HP-UX. The candidate should have a proven track record of securing Unix systems at the enterprise level, support and uphold security policies and standards as they relate to the UNIX environment, as well as provide guidance and assistance to other R&D groups on security related topics.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Five or more years of relevant experience
- Practical understanding of UNIX system internals, TCP/IP networking.
- Hands on experience with host based security procedures, conducting host based security auditing.
- Proficient in at least two of the following programming languages, C, Python, Perl, ksh

The Quantitative Investment Strategies team is a Quantitative Portfolio Management Desk. The Desk manages one of the largest hedge fund families in the world using sophisticated quantitative models. It trades across assets classes on a global basis using a wide variety of instruments (equities, cash securities, futures, forwards, options, interest rate swaps and other OTC derivatives).

The business is highly reliant upon technology across all of its activities. The systems cover research, portfolio construction, electronic trading and workflow. Technology employs a variety of architectures and technologies and works directly with portfolio managers, researchers and traders. We have a clear need for people that can work across the suite of applications, while introducing best practices and working with the business directly.
